Remind me again why I didn't go into design in general, and why I'm sloughing through history?

Is there some reason why you can't do both? Or do design to earn money to study history?

My dream job, I'd be doing both. The only reason I'm unable to do design to earn money is because the places that want design want people who have actual art degrees.

I got out of the art department here because I was told my art was no good, so I, in a fit of anger, destroyed much of my portfolio. Or gave the pieces that people wanted to them, and then destroyed the lot of it. Yes, I had anger management issues.

I'm afraid I still do, sometimes.

Eh. One of my best friends in college went to law school - and, upon graduation, went into graphic design, more or less on her own. There's no reason why you can't do something similar: go into history professionally and do graphic design on the side. And if the latter proves more profitable, do it professionally with history as the sideline.

Don't limit yourself. You're too young and too talented to do that.
