musings - garb, home, and QP

Bollocks.

I left my Byzantine in Omaha over the weekend. Matsu at least said that he'd try and get it at War Maneuvers (which I contend does not look right. If it were War Manoeuvres I'd be happy about it. That being said, not even my spellchecker agrees with it) and drop it by on the way back. That would rock.

Anyway.

I think I have Poiema figured out for this Sunday, but I'm trying to get on the ball and have some sort of curriculum written out so I'm all organised. I also want to start getting the students to really start bringing in people so that there is a succession plan in the works. All this is on top of getting people into SCA events and other things. It's a wonder I still have brains left, really. Apparently not, especially after leaving my garb in Omaha. Wow. My brain hurts.

Anti is watching Star Wars: A New Hope (it's I or IV, depending on who you ask. He maintains it's I.), so I'm hearing the cantina right about now. I'm sure in a few moments I'm going to hear that Han Solo was the only one who got a shot off.

Yeah.

So, new gown. It needs to be taken in, but I think I can make it work with a belt for a little bit. I'm not going to worry about hemming it up, as it doesn't puddle too much for it to be that big of an annoyance. For dancing, though, it will need to be pinned up and out of the way. Or, I just need to make sure I wear shorter garb. That is one of the good things about Byzantine garb, but it really doesn't leave your legs with a lot of room for movement. I remember sitting on the stairs at Twelfth Night and I had to hike up the skirts a lot to sit comfortably. I'm a bit spastic when I dance. I need the room. :P At least my undertunic drops from the waist. I just need more garb to go with it. Maybe even a singular middle class Tudor...but I'm not going to push it. I rather like being able to dress unassisted. :D

Finally, QP. Confirming: I will not be there. I have to work (sadly), but I will try to do a Kingdom-level A&S competition in the near future. Besides, I need to build up a goodly number of period songs. Lowest Trees Have Tops is a lovely song, but darnit, there's so much more out there, and I want to learn more! (Hint. Period music books, especially with modern notation...always a great gift idea. :) )
