Church was grand today.

Hi.

Remember me?

Anyway, Father Mike went on about Deut. 18: 15-20.

Here's the verse for reference.

Moses said, The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you shall heed such a prophet. This is what you requested of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said: "If I hear the voice of the LORD my God any more, or ever again see this great fire, I will die." Then the LORD replied to me: "They are right in what they have said. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. Anyone who does not heed the words that the prophet shall speak in my name, I myself will hold accountable. But any prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, or who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded the prophet to speak-- that prophet shall die."

He proceeded to speak about the idea of the Hebrew word "naw-than'," which, among other things, means placed. [livejournal.com profile] goth4god, this so reminds me of you. You have been placed in the spot He wants you to be. Like the Old Testament prophet, your namesake, he was placed where God wanted him. You are a true prophet among false ones, the ones calling like carnies from their booths of false hopes and promises in false gods.

Father Mike also spoke about the truth in the prophets placed by God, and that they may take many guises of liberalism, moderation, and conservatism, and as Christians, we must remain vigilant about discovering who is really behind the message: God, or the false gods of our self absorbed culture.

I got so much out of today's message, for which I am grateful, especially after my craptastic day at work.

A clique has been started at work, and I'm basically stuck doing all of the crap jobs that no one else wants to do, but necessary to getting done with a proper close or keeping the concept running. They've already deemed me as being weird, and because they don't like me, they're trying to push me out of the job that I like. In fact, one of the part-time students asked me why I was still there, because he thought I had been fired.

Say what?!

This pisses me off. As far as I'm concerned, it is a team effort to keep the concept running, and I really hate to wipe other people's butts when they're perfectly able to do what they can do.

Example: Our other two full-timers, and self-named princesses of the clique, are running around the concept like two schoolgirls, and I'm standing there, slicing a full case of tomatoes. Both tables need to be filled, and a line is forming on the other side of the sneeze guards, and I say that it would probably be best if they stop playing and help out the Indian students, while being great workers, are still learning the basic ropes of the concept.

Their response?

In whiny, bitchy tones, it's "you're being bossy. Why don't you step up to the line."

Dudes, I'm up to my elbows in tomato seeds.

Sigh.

Why can't doing the right thing be seen as being admirable by the staff?

More importantly, when will they get their heads out their butts?

GOD, grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,

Courage to change the
things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference.

Living ONE DAY AT A TIME;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.

Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next.

Amen
