zephyrofgod: (Sick)
I love having sick days.

Not.

I took the day off work due to throwing up. I'm blaming the three cluster and/or migraine headaches this weekend alone and the synapses going crazy. I did not eat any of my triggers, so it's got to be hormonal. You know it's bad when in the middle of game night, I ask for a blanket to put over my head and I end up babbling incoherently until I go to sleep fifteen minutes later.

So, yes, I wasn't at work today, and I will more than likely get kvetched at (again, not my fault. My body does stupid stuff like this all the time). Blech.

I cut six and a half inches of hair off. I'm still getting used to it. I have yet to take photos, but I probably will soon.

I met my friend Shaun's friends: Matt and Steve. Matt plays in the SCA. In fact, [livejournal.com profile] purplellamaboi, you know him. He's Modar's newest protégé. For the life of me, I can't remember his SCA name. I blame the migraines. Steve is the flight instructor, and he and I had a good fourty-five minute conversation about altimeters (which I think are spiffy). If I go permanently barmy, I might consider flying lessons. I'm only halfway barmy. We've got some time to go.

I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted, I still feel horrid, and I do need to go to work, or else, well, more kvetching will ensue. I'm trying to avoid that.

Yes, I'm still sick, but was able to make an excursion out, which is a hell of a lot better than yesterday. I still expect to hear kvetching, wailing, and gnashing of teeth at work tomorrow, but dammit, I don't call in unless I'm -that- sick.

Meh.

Onto the meme, which I blame [livejournal.com profile] chiara607 for.

Here's the skinny: comment on this post and I will pick seven of your interests. You then explain them in your journal and re-post.

I was asked to explain these particular ones: anti-daylight savings time, Barony of Forgotten Sea, Brobdingnagian Bards, cesium, holy flaming naginata!, Lincoln Prep, theology.

Anti-daylight savings time: I hate daylight savings with a bloody, bloody passion. Yes, it's nice to have a few extra hours of sunlight, but, honestly, I'd rather that the government not mandate my clocks! It's confusing, it can lead to health and well-being issues, and it's a pain in the butt to deal with. (or, you can read the history of daylight saving time at this Wikipedia article)

Barony of Forgotten Sea: I'm from the Kansas City area, and BFS was my home group, considering that my parents lived in the city proper. BFS is a part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, for you not in the know. I wasn't able to attend many meetings, but I did feel quite at home when I was able to attend.

Brobdingnagian Bards: One of my favourite filk/folk groups out there. [livejournal.com profile] marcgunn is even on my friends list. I love the music, and as much as I've tried to at least host or get to a concert, I'm also very satisfied with their CDs, which I'm slowly amassing.

Cesium: It makes me giggle. I watched an episode of Brainiac on highly reactive heavy metals. Magnesium was cool, but in comparison to cesium, it was like a birthday candle to a blowtorch. Watching a bathtub blow up to the point where it's not going to hold anything is always entertaining. Slight destuctive tendencies. Just a tad.

Holy flaming naginata!: This was from my third or fourth D&D game, where my character had a holy flaming naginata. I love naginatas. They're graceful and beautiful weapons of ouchiness, and sticking holy and flaming on them just makes them even more kick-ass. I might see if I can convince my DM to let me have a cohort with one. :D

Lincoln Prep: My high school. I graduated from Lincoln Prep in 2002. It is the only school (in my opinion) that is worth going to in the KCMSD, and it has never lost accreditation. That being said, I do think the KCMSD is still heading south, and it's going to take a lot of work to get back to the point where any of the schools are worth going to again.

Theology: For those of you not in the know, I'm looking at vocational ministry. I've been called since I was sixteen to do ministry, so I figure I better do it. That being said, it's fun, for me, at least, to talk theology. I'm not the most knowledgable with it, but, I still like talking about it, and discerning what was the actual intent of the Early Church. Yes, I am a church nerd.

That's it. Those are mt seven. If you want me to do this for you, just comment, and I'll reply with the seven I'm most curious about!
