The things I do during spring break...
Mar. 26th, 2009 06:42 pmI was commissioned to paint someone's device on something. Something consisted of a canvas bag, and to save money, I bought the biggest pack of canvas totes that was available to buy here in the 'Ville. This happened to be a three-pack.
So, I got busy, and painted the other two bags. One has a big ol' Cthulhu head on it (also posted on my Flickr site) with "the power of Cthulhu compels you," and the other has a Celtic cross with "cead mile failte."
Let me state now: I hate knotwork. I know it's mathematically derived, but I freakin' hate knotwork. Unless, of course, it just needs to be coloured in, and well, then I'm fine. Drawing it, though, is a whole new ballgame that I don't want to deal with.
Still, I'm rather pleased with how they all turned out. I have already received offers on selling the bags, and I'm thinking about expanding the jewellery business to include custom painted bags. I may not, or I may. Just depends.
I will be at Coronation, provided the weather cooperates, so the Calontiri on my list may actually be able to see at least the Cead Mile Failte one in person. But anyway.
Definitely need the break from real life. and to be around friends and my SCA family because it seems you're the only people who get my brand of insanity.
