Even though I didn’t make it to QP (and the way it’s looking, Bellewode’s not looking any better due to transportation and possible impending weather issues), I still got a little bit of Scadian contact, as on her way back to Mag Mor, [livejournal.com profile] eleanor_deyeson came by and dropped off her gift meme (and beads from Cathus, but, that’s another story). Dude.

Seriously. Dude. The pictures don’t do it justice.

It’s a pewter cast of a little 10th century Byzantine cross: one side has a crucifix, the other side (I think, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) has the Theotokos with Christ on the other side. Perfect! I’ve been wanting a cross to wear during Lent, especially since my Evangelists Cross is only to be worn during times of joy. This totally fits the bill. And it’s super nifty. And I need to take photos of it as soon as I can. Thank you. It’s amazing. I’m seriously sitting with it right now with a bad case of the “ooh, shinies.”

She also brought me my beads from Cathus. A few weeks ago, Cathus was looking for little feather charms to give as tokens. I referred him to a few sites, and he decided on one. Unfortunately, he needed to be at a certain monetary amount to purchase the charms, and extended the offer of buying beads. I picked out some olive wood beads for a set of paternosters. I have one hundred of the little things, and with the bone, I think it’ll be fab.

My inspiration to do things is running on the low side, and this bugs me a little. I realise all artists go through phases, but this one’s pretty pertinacious and I’m a bit bugged by it. It’ll pass, eventually. That being said, I need to come up with a couple concepts for the plaster casts to help out those girls who aren’t so inclined with inspiration, either. I’m thinking about doing something with a bit of a religious theme, but I’m not sure what quite to do. Then again, I have iconography, like permanently, on the brain, too. Go fig.

Since I’ve decided that I’m not going to be at Bellewode, I’ll be doing the preliminary casts this weekend. I need to find a safe space that’s relatively good to get a little dirty, and I’m hoping someone in the cast lives in either an apartment, or in one of the suites on campus. I could probably find a place to paint and otherwise decorate stuff, but the casting location really needs to be someplace relatively quiet and private, and understandably so.

Not sure what my next event will be. There’s a few events in before Magda and Hirsch step down, but it’s figuring out which one. I might go to Clothier’s, and teaching a class, if I can get my stuff together for paternosters class quickly enough. One of these days, I’ll learn to just write and research the class when I have it on the brain. I always did work better with a deadline.
