'Period construction' is: "add pieces til it fits" If you really study extants, you'll find all manner of wierdnesses...some are really cool ways to use bias stretch, some are more utilitarian, some are wonderous mysteries best left unquestioned. I'm sure it'll be beautiful. Good luck! :o)
