So, you know when you go to bed the feeling of being lulled to sleep, and the horrors of the world are gone?

Yeah, not tonight.

So, I went to bed about 11:30 with a horrible headache. As in, holy mother of God, this is one of the worst migraines ever. Slept pretty well until about 1:30 this morning, was woken up by a deep male voice and heavy knocking on the windows and doors - "GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!" Local cop was directing us out of the house and outside.

When I woke up, I could see why. The sky was orange. This is not the normal view outside the window.

My neighbours' house was on fire. This was no tiny-ass kitchen fire, either. No. This was a three-alarm for Maryville, and in fact, about three-quarters of the fire force was in our front yard. About half the house was engulfed in flames.

We watched it burn from our across the street neighbours house, who gave us water and in my case, a sweatshirt.

I'll fully admit that I'm still freaking out a little bit, but I'm okay. We're all okay. In fact, the worst thing that's happened besides interrupted sleep is a broken storm window. There are many things that could have gone wrong. We could have been situated a lot closer to our neighbour's house. Our house could have been made of more flammable materials. Our neighbours could have been in their house. Okay. Enough. The point is, much worse could have happened. And I am counting my blessings.
