No, Jib, you cannot use this against me, dammit.

Jib sat down with me online last night and we talked heraldry. And I think I may have something that I really like.

For those who speak heraldese, it's azure, a chevron between two mullets and a gryphon rampant argent. For those who don't, I'll be working up a doodle pretty soon. I may even go use Photoshop and make an icon out of it, but that means I have to get rid of one, or pay for an account, both of which I don't want to do. I think this is how it's supposed to look, so bear with me. I know heralds, I yell things, but I'm certainly not a book herald. :P I just go, "Ooh. Pretty colours," and that's it. Anyway, this is what I sat down and blazoned, on MS Paint, no less. And that's a headache.



Tada. So, once it comes back from conflict checking, I'll sit down, and get my stuff together for submission.

And now, I'm being assigned detention for mouthing off to my Brother. You know, maybe I should just go with a Chinese persona and change my name to Hung Fat, or Loud Woman.

Let this be a lesson to me.

So, Jib blamed me for the last bit of homework for the Household. Here's what he wrote:

"Well, your assignment is to pretend you're in a role where people may be serving you food, or presenting you with a personal gift, or making largesse for you to distribute, or where you get to set the tone of an event.

"What are your likes and dislikes? What is your persona and what are your heraldic colors? What garb styles do you like or dislike? What kinds of things do you like as tokens? What things do you want to see more or less of at events?

"This is your chance to pretend you've got the power and can share your wishes and whims with the world. [[And hey...this is great fodder for the Family to help them out if they should ever start plotting evil things and decide to make personalized Twelfth Night or birthday gifts. *hint hint*]]

All because of my Wishes and Whims post! What sort of monster have I created?

Well, since I didn't go to Lilies, corros had planned to go do Free RPG Day over the weekend in Warrensburg. Why Warrensburg? Well, our local gaming shop/movie rental palace didn't think it profitable, and Warrensburg was the closest to us. We (he, Anti, and I) all stayed at the Christian Campus House just a tad off campus, and hung out with corros' brother. And found out that my world keeps getting smaller. And that I know too many people. To be fair, we did pass Smithville Lake, and I did threaten to shout "CALONTIR!" out the window as we did pass by.

Anyway. So, the day of the event, we walked over to Pine Street (probably a bad idea for my hip, as it's killing me today, and I'm now completely out of lidocaine patches), checked out the store, and I oohed and aahed over dice. Anti bought me a set of polyhedral solid copper dice (sorry, lost_in_mowhere, you'll have to get your own), but I told him no more, as we do have to move in a few weeks. But no, I'm not going to turn down dice. Especially ones that I've been drooling over for years.

Warrensburg is an interesting little place. It also has one of the biggest antique malls I've ever seen. Those Were the Days is one of those places that you could get lost for hours...and not mind. I even found rare styles of Doc Martens (blue and green) for just over $50, and had I not given Anti the speech about spending money, I would have been all over those. No lie. $50 brand new Docs? In rare style? Yes, please.

Then we went back to the bigger gaming store in Warrensburg, then, discovered a second one not far from the antique mall. There are very visible differences between the two, and I think one could stand to learn lessons from the other.

I had fun, and it was good to get out and see things.

Now, to figure out Raid or Trade logistics.

There are always evil plots as far as my Brother is concerned, no lie.

So, I had a moment where I was really bumming about missing the Ball at Lilies tonight, which makes me more hellbent on getting to Raid or Trade. Jib has graciously saved a place for me in his tent (I have -the- coolest Household brother, ever). So, once Lilies ends, I'm going to post a note on the BFS Y! group to see if I can catch a ride with someone who's going. Because, darnit, I want to go.

In non-SCA news, I somehow managed to French braid my hair tonight, without assistance. I'm so proud of myself.

Off to take my meds and go to sleep. Sleep is good.

Jib has practically begged me to come to Raid or Trade, and has even offered me half of his tent to use. I figure that I'd like to go, but the ride thing has to happen first, and at least, I'm only two hours from Coeur d'Ennui.

We'll see.

I'm still deciding if I want to do Feast of Eagles or not, given it falls right before my birthday, and I have still yet to do an event that close to it. (And it's something I've wanted to do for a while.)

I think it's something I'm just going to have to think about, that's all. It looks like fun (especially based on past feasts), and I'm all for doing stuff, because that's always fun.

Now that the boys have vacated themselves from my painting chair, I think I'm going to go back to work on scrolls, at least sometime this weekend. It's either that or sewing trim on garb, which based on my fingers (which bear a rather striking resemblance to a diabetes patient's fingers), I don't think I could bear that for now.

HALP!

More from the "Constantia = Service Whore" department.

I think I might actually do something like making tees with a woodcut Cross of Calatrava (for those not in the know, it's part of Calontir's device) and a woodcut "Service Whore" in blackletter for my Household. There are eight of them (Jib, Rayya, will you confirm this?), so that shouldn't be that big of a deal.

It may be an ongoing project, and I'd have to track down a place that I could do this at, but it's a crazy idea that may work well. Or, it may be a summer project. Not sure.

Meanwhile, I need an SCA icon.

My friend Angharad verch Gwilym in Meridies has said that she's half tempted to make me a t-shirt that has the Kingdom device on it with Service Whore printed on it and to send it to me.
