Yesterday was an interesting day.
Beautiful, I will say that. Sixty-five degrees, bright and full of sunshine...and I spent it mostly indoors.
Actually, I went to the Hallmark Visitors Centre, and Kaleidoscope. I went to Kaleidoscope as a kid, and my memories of it are fond (of course, they would be. Former art major, yo). If you ever, ever, ever visit Kansas City, and you have kids from five to twelve, take them. They'll love it. I did. Kaleidoscope is a place where kids can make stuff (also known as ART!) from the left-overs that Hallmark has. It's exploratory, fun, funky, and just all around neat. I'm now too old to go to Kaleidoscope (SAD!), but the staff did allow me to hang out in the observation lounge. I'm thinking about volunteering there (it'd look great on a resumé and it's just plain cool), especially during the summer.
I got hit on while going to the Centre. That's what made the day interesting. I swear, the weirdest things happen to me on the bus. All the time. Good Lord. But anyway, this guy and I'm thinking his wife or girlfriend (I've no clue). I'm wearing my "China Doll" shirt. It's a sage green shirt (my favourite), with a little Chinese girl dancing on it. She's dressed in yellows and golds (and I have to scan it!). I'm also wearing my schleppy jeans (hey, it's my day off...so sue me), so I'm pretty comfortable. He was all like, "y'know, you've got a hole in your jeans" (Yes, I know. Right over my right knee. And they're comfortable, too.) and "I like your shirt, where'd you get it?" (swap shop, school.) THEN, right as he's about ready to get off the bus, he goes "Have a great day" to which, I reply, "And you too." His response? "Of course it will be. I've seen a gorgeous girl."
WHOA! I've got an engagement ring on my LEFT hand. I am most definitely taken.
That was an interesting experience.
It reminds me of a customer I had at work. He couldn't find his chocolate (his wife put it in the bigger shopping bag they had), and Amie and I are looking around trying to find it...and we find it...and he said...
"Now you can say you had an adventure today."
And that's what I want to wish everyone.
HAVE AN ADVENTURE TODAY!
