Starting a meme?
May. 30th, 2010 10:01 pmSo, today at church, I was given the compliment of "I hope you come to church more often. It's really nice to hear you sing."
Of course, I would be me and think about the power of a single compliment, and how we're terrible as a culture when we talk to people. We're, on the whole, rude, crude, and there's this pervasive sense of meanness.
The meme part: pay someone a genuine compliment, totally out of the blue. I'd like to hear the stories (I'm such a story fanatic), but you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. It's that total no-strings-attached thing that I totally love, especially since it seems that everything has strings attached.
So, yes, I'm calling for a lovefest. Find someone, give them a genuine compliment, and feel for that little bit of joy in your heart. (And of course, rinse and repeat.)
