I'm back from Bellewode's Symposium and Ball. Had a blast! Here's what happened.

First off, [livejournal.com profile] corros, [livejournal.com profile] summersdream, [livejournal.com profile] antistotic, and I all piled into [livejournal.com profile] corros' car after about three months of planning the pilgrimage, if you will, to the site. We didn't end up leaving until almost three Friday afternoon, so we didn't get to Kirksville until six or so. After running about to go to Hastings and Walmart, and to grab a bite to eat with [livejournal.com profile] corros and a friend of his from Upward Bound, we settled in, playing a few games of Apples to Apples (which is now on my Christmas list!), and I both started and finished a girdle for my garb. For those not in the know, or think a girdle is just something to make you look skinny, the medieval version is just a jewelled belt. This one has silver chain, pewter beads, and amethyst accents. It's beautiful. We only got about four hours of sleep or so, as we had to get up at seven in the morning to be at site early.

Next morning, we wake up, get garbed up, and head to take classes at the Symposium. [livejournal.com profile] summersdream was all for the dance classes, [livejournal.com profile] corros waffled on Court Heraldry and the dance classes, and I just couldn't make up my mind and went to the dance classes so I'd be prepared for the ball that evening. The first class of the day was "Flirting and Dancing," taught by Cathus the Curious. We all had a great time, winking and flirting and generally being silly. [livejournal.com profile] corros was keeping a running tally of all the times that Cathus leered at him, though, I will say Cathus was having a blast just being Cathus. Flirting is always fun.

After that, it was off to very beginning pre-prints, and I learned a lot. I think I might start doing preprints because that is something I can do from Maryville and just send in. That, and I can be patient about them.

After the pre-printing class, it was back to dancing. By this point, we were soaked in sweat. We called it Italian Aerobics, because of that. Then, it was off to lunch at Pagliai's. No, we didn't rush back to eat Pagliai's...there's one in K-Ville. After that, it was more dancing. And more dancing, and more dancing.

We danced until Court, and because we were placed in a smaller room, Court was abbreviated, as no one had to go over hill and dale to get to other people. Bellewode had a lot of people be recognised for service, including Kasha, who was inducted into the Order of the Calon Swan for her work with the musicians.

We broke for dinner, and then it was the ball. I danced quite a few numbers, but by the time the evening was winding down, I realised I was pooped! Postrevel was at Their Majesties' rented cabin, and we were up all night talking and singing about the silliest stuff. Mirabel and I were helping massage His Majesty's back, and he was passing out in the middle of it. He told us that we had forty-five minutes to work our magic, and we'd be done. Unfortunately, His Majesty was a little...soused, and combined with the intoxicating effects of the drinking and the massage, he kept telling Mirabel and I that we had forty-two minutes, even an hour and a half later. It was fun. We didn't get back until about four in the morning, stopping at Pancake City, a local eatery for breakfast. At that time, the drunks were in full force, including a guy waiting outside who was very much intoxicated falling down and peeing his pants on the sidewalk. However, the colour commentary from the people inside sounded something like this: "Oh my lord. It's like he's peeing the Nile River!" Ah, drunks.

After that, it was bedtime, and after waking up this morning, we headed out for Chinese food with Ermenrich and Kasha, and then took a tour of downtown Kirksville. After that, we went home. I slept in the car for a good hour and half. I think I was tired.

And that was our trip. Some details are missing, but they'll get fleshed out eventually, I think. Or, I'll be corrected somewhere along the way.

That's so true! I get a little bit of satisfaction in knowing that we not only melted His Majesty, but we did it in front of other people. :P

And yes, please! I need to get the hang of doing preprints! Since I'm not sure what event I'll be at next, could I ask you to send them in the mail to me?

You bet. You can send your addy to mirabel_wynne @ (the Yodeling service)

Crown is a GREAT event, btw. Cabins are cheap, fun is inevitable.

I just have to get there. Not having a car and living in the middle of nowhere isn't fun.

Heck, even the SO said, "sure, go! Have a good time!" Otherwise, I'm helping with a Star Wars mini Battle of Hoth demo. I swear, I'm surrounded by demos.

You'd be proud of me.

I have two, count'em, two scrolls done.

The whole idea of essentially giving me a colouring book (albeit a really stinkin' nice colouring book) is really comforting. And fun.

I think I have a new source for therapy.

It wasn't the quantity of leers, it was the sensual quality/intesity to them. :D

And just for the record, in all my years of going to Pancake City, that has NEVER happened before. Plenty of other weird shit, yes. But not that, at least not while I was there.

And for the record, Corros_Murphy is my email, Corros is my LJ screenname.

All right, all right.

I'm terrible at memory. You should know that. :P

Really? That's rather bizarre. But okay.

And you're surprised by Cathus? Certainly, you jest. And dear Lord, that's still a rather disturbing thought.
