Sweet Mother of God, I found pre-made egg tempera!
Sure, it's not making my paint by hand, but it's a cheaper alternative, and it gives me a chance to work with material I've never worked with before!
Hee!
Dammit.
This means I -have- to enter Queen's Prize now.
Cathus, I hate you. Not really. But it sounds good.
So, who wants to make my birthday and get me the deluxe set? :P I kid. Sort of.

Also, I've not done a ton of research into icons, but I'm guessing that sanding the wood *really smooth* first and using a 'primer' in the form of gesso will go a long way to making the process easier on you...paint colors will pop more, and you don't have to worry about wood grain showing through.
Good luck!!

Yes, I'm a art geek. :P
