It's odd...when I get depressed, my art seems to improve. (What's even worse is that I'm sick!)

I write better when down as well. maybe depression causes artistic juice to flow through the brain.

That's easy to answer. When you are sick you are less likely to get in the way of your creative impulse. You are less likely to second guess yourself, and more likely to work unrestrained by any notions you might have regarding your creative impulse or muse. Artists seem to be susceptible to addictions of various kinds, and my theory is that it helps them remove the blocks that they have put between themselves and their creative impulse.

Just a thought.
