Questions from [livejournal.com profile] wulfsdottir.

1) What is your favorite children's book?

The Little Snow Bear, by Lisa Gilbert Weedn and Flavia Weedn. The colours in the illustrations are dreamy, and the story is just so heartwarming. I highly recommend this for most age groups.

2) What is the best thing you've read recently, with acknowledgement that this could be the same as Question 1?

I actually picked up a book at Half-Price Books on Saturday on the dancing plague of 1518. It's an interesting read, and the guy seems to have done his research.

3) Which of the chivalric virtues interests you the most and why?

Charity and Honour. All too often, we do things because we're supposed to do them, not because we want to do them, and we do them dispassionately. Both of these virtues cannot be done without passion. Charity involves Largesse and Generosity, and giving without passion leads to dissatisfaction. Honour is something that we as modern people aren't good with, as we have a tendency to ignore the people we don't like. Honour is more than just "liking" someone - it's being honest with them. It's telling them they have worth. And sometimes, it's telling them to STFU and to listen.

4) Besides money, what is one thing you wish you had more of?

Time.

5) If you could choose any person, living or dead, to have a two hour lunch with, who would it be and where would you go/what would you eat? Assume a time machine would allow you to visit your choice during their lifetime, no zombie lunches here.

Bo Ling's with Empress Theodora. I'd love to see what she thought of modern American Chinese food.

1. Which dance is your favorite dance (back at you...lol)?

Rufty Tufty, Gelosia, and probably the Carolingian Pavane. All are fun, especially with dancers who know each other well enough to flirt crazily.

2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I want to go back to Ireland. And I'd love to go to Scotland. And Istanbul. And Ravenna. Ireland and Scotland because my family's from there. Istanbul and Ravenna because they were major metropolitan regions of the Roman Empire.

3. What is your favorite animal?

I have two; polar bears and lions.

4. What do you love most about where you live?

It's picturesque, especially in autumn. Otherwise, it's just a bit too small here. I hate having to go 45 minutes just to go to a craft store.

5. What is your favorite non-SCA-related pursuit?

Video gaming. I'm primarily a console gamer, especially as Mac doesn't support games that I would play, like Age of Empires. I like games like Fable and Fable II, and then games like MarioKart.

1) What value do you find in so many portraits and self-portraits?

You find out so many things about personalities, and in the case of self-portraits, your own. And, on top of that, in stealth photos, there's so much captured in a single fleeting second.

2) How do you reconcile your religious beliefs with some of the behavior you see in the SCA?

I'm relatively relaxed about things in the SCA, and for that matter, most things in life. Sure, there are displays of hedonism and other debachery associated with it, but as I believe as strongly that the yardstick of how I live my life doesn't always apply to someone else. Plus, I do have the option to decline anything. I don't have to participate in activities if I feel that there's a conflict of interest.

3) What would you hope for in a con that you attended?

As I've only been to one con - TowerCon, put on by the gaming group at NWMSU, so my con experience is relatively limited. The most I would hope for is always going to be fun.

4) What do you most enjoy at an SCA feast?

Food. And hearing stories. And if I'm serving (I love serving feasts!), then being a saucy kitchen wench. Next time you see me, remind me to tell you the story of serving Valens, Susannah, Cadfael, and Elspeth, because it was a lot of fun. And Valens gave me so much crap that night.

5) Who would you want to play you in a movie about Calontir?

Zooey Deschanel. Maybe Emily, her sister, but I think she'd be better playing an older version of me.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] valr

1. How did you come to know Rauidhri?

Started with my first Crown Tourney, and we've hung out from that point. Half the time, I'm not even sure how we've ended up hanging out together.

2. Hot Cider, Mulled Wine, or Hot Chocolate? Why?

It's a toss-up between cider and chocolate. Wine, while enjoyable, isn't something that I can enjoy because of my psoriasis. I do frequently drink cocoa and cider, especially since I hate coffee.

3. Is there a song or musician that you are embarrassed about enjoying?

The Spice Girls.

4. Who played Lumpy on 'Leave it to Beaver'?

...before my time? Waaay before my time.

5. 2+2=5, explain how.

Dude, don't ask me to explain math.
