Roadblock on the blue-surcote-of-doom project. Even with the extra gores, it still won't get around my ample derrière. So, I'm going to have to rip out gores in the middle seams, and place a panel in between. It's definitely not period construction, but I also don't have the easiest build to work with.

Bah.

All after getting all the gores on last night. Meh. I'll be lucky if I get this done in time for Crystal Ball in November. Very lucky.

'Period construction' is: "add pieces til it fits"
If you really study extants, you'll find all manner of wierdnesses...some are really cool ways to use bias stretch, some are more utilitarian, some are wonderous mysteries best left unquestioned.
