zephyrofgod: (prayer)
Well, I'm going back to Episcopal General Convention, God willing.

I've got to raise $1500 (at least) in order to go, because it's in Anaheim. And California's freakin' expensive. I may set up a secondary LJ account to sell stuff, but I'm not sure right now. All I know is that the diocese can only afford to give me $200 as of now. I have to pay for my transportation there, I'm assuming my $350 for the entire five days there (in other words, I'm not sure the diocese will cover all of that), and food and other incidentals. The good thing is that I don't have to buy a camera. And I'm more than likely going to end up writing yet another article for the West Missouri Spirit, which will be cool, no lie.

So, here's where I need your help.

Please pray for the following:

Money.

It's an obvious thing. And yes, I did do the geek girls calendar, so that should help with a bit of the money problem (maybe?), but at the same time, $1500 for a week in California is expensive. Food will be expensive, flying out there will be expensive, activities will be expensive (somehow, Disneyland is on the agenda. I'm wondering who's paying for it. If I am, I'm sure as hell -not going-...and apparently, it's on my ticket, so no, I'm -not going-. But, I do get a day to enjoy California. This could be nice), yada, yada, yada. Plus, I have to cover my rent that month, too, and I'll be on unemployment (which, while good, won't cover everything). And yes, I know people aren't made of money. And yes, I know, this economy sucks. I went ahead and put Father Mike on notice that there was a big chance I may not make it out there, so we'll see.

Travelling mercies.

Since I believe I'm traveling by myself cross-country, I'm going to need those travelling mercies. Since it's also July (the ninth through the fourteenth, if memory serves right), it means that it'll be one of those peak travel times.

Anti.

Yes, I'll be away from him for a week. Hopefully, he'll be okay, but I do worry about the silly boy.

More ministry discernment.

As I wrote about this three years ago (really? Has it been that long ago already? Really?) in this entry, discernment's been something I've been working on for a while. I'm not sure if I'm anywhere closer, but I am sure that I do learn a ton from events like this. And I want to see what I can take away to impact my students here in Maryville.

So, yes, while I'm sad I can't make Lilies, at that same point, Young Adult Festival/General Convention only happens every three years. This is my second one, and because I won't be a young adult for too much longer, it may be my second-to-last one (my last one may be at 28...we'll see). I know I can't afford both, and in this case, I think it my duty to my church, my students, and my own spiritual life to go to GC.

So please, if you're of that type, please pray.

Thanks.

Well, if it's not SCA in my life, then it's church stuff. (always.)

Here we go. I have less than a week to put together something for my college aged kids for our kick-off Sunday. I'm thinking another movie night, but even I'm getting sick of those.

So.

Imagine yourself in college/back in college/college-aged, etc. What would get you through the door? What would get you involved? What would minister to you?

I know I'm missing questions. Answer ones you have. (It helps me fill in my own blanks.) I'm wanting inexpensive, profound, and something I can get done by Saturday night at the latest. Denomination of the ministry is Episcopalian, but is open to all faiths and backgrounds.

If you have something to post, even if it's silly, please post it. I welcome answers.

I've had a crappy day at work.

Until about five or so this evening.

But I digress.

I'm sorry, but if something goes missing, don't automatically blame me.  Most importantly, certain coworker, don't you EVER joke about me stealing stuff.  I don't joke about your inability to keep your mouth shut, nor the fact that you have no tact whatsoever, and if you're expecting me to smile, that's obviously not they way to effin' do that.

Capiche?

I'm also changing majors.  My GPA when I reenter will not be high enough to enter the school of education, so I'm going to go with a pure history with a minor in geography.  It's still marketable, and I've explored various other avenues for employment.  I'm hopefully going to be starting the discernment process before my senior year of college, which will be interesting considering one of the people of my small country church is also in that process, and he's told me that he's struggling.

That makes me happy.  Perhaps I'm a masochist, but maybe that struggle is a good thing.  It shows me that the spiritual walk is sometimes an uphill battle, and that it's okay when it reaches that point.

Anyway, it's late, and I have work in the morning.

Bedtime.
